ESCAPING THE 9-5
A message from Kylie Rose, founder and Game Master for Dicescape.

Dicescape's origin story began with my escape plan from a mundane life...
After getting a business degree and dabbling in business development and marketing for a while, I found myself bored. I had followed the plan and reached the goals laid out by our culture and yet why wasn't I satisfied? I was happily married, had a good job, and everything material I wanted. After my quarter-life crisis calmed, I realized I felt disconnected from my creative side. We made the decision to move West, so I could go back to school for Film. It was around this time, my partner started following her passion as a career. Watching her journey led me to question what my true passions were. After some soul-searching and many film projects, I decided my passion was in storytelling.
During my time in Film school, I started to dabble again with content on TTRPGs. I felt myself hooked immediately. Within a few months of reading every book I could get my hands on, I launched my first D&D homebrew game with a group of friends I had met in my travels across the country. The World of Semperviren was brought to life by this first campaign. Over the course of the year, I built my world and gained confidence and knowledge that made me just delusional enough to put myself out there as a professional GM. Within a year, I saw the birth of 7 long-term campaigns set in Semperviren and beyond. I quit my 9-5 and became a full-time GM. The uplifting community I found with my players brought me to explore what other options the TTRPG industry had for me to explore narratively.
I discovered Candela Obscura and felt instantly connected to magical realism. One of my hold-ups with D&D was that I felt the rules can sometimes kill otherwise awesome roleplay opportunities. Candela Obscura's style felt like a perfect fit. I decided even before the full release that I wanted to form a TTRPG narrative podcast using this system. With the help of my exceptional players, the first season of Streets of Nevermore is launching in November 2023.
Dicescape. Escape the mundane.
